More than 40 Fire Islanders walked from Fair Harbor to Island Mermaid in Ocean Beach on Sunday, Aug. 21, for the fourth annual Komedyplast Walk-a-Thon.
The group raised $6,000 last year for the National Children's Hospital in Lima, Peru, to treat children with cranial and facial deformities. Dunewood resident, Dr. Peter Taub, serves on Komedyplast's Board of Directors, while other walkers shared his vision. "To know a little child is going to get a new life--it's just such a special feeling," said Fair Harbor resident Jill Berke.
