A Cherry Grove man was arrested late on Saturday, Sept. 10, in connection with the rape of a woman on the beach in Cherry Grove over Labor Day weekend.

Edgar Peralta, 24, of the Grove and Queens, faces a First Degree Rape charge for allegedly sexually assaulting a woman on the beach in the Grove around 5:20 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4. Peralta, who Newsday said worked in the hamlet, allegedly beat the woman with what she described as a silver handgun before assaulting her.
