Events (3)![]() Cherry grove July 4: Oh Mary! Join thousands of drag queens and their friends as they board a ferry to invade the Fire Island Pines. Who will show-up this year? Liza and Cher? President Barack Obama? Octomom? The festivities kick-off at the Ice Palace at noon. be followed by dancing at Sip n’ Twirl. Fair Harbor July 4: The Pine Walk Fair will bring crafts people and other vendors to the beach for a day of shopping and fun. Held at the dock in at 11 a.m. to raise money for the community, eager shoppers can peruse for jewelry, food, clothing, unique gift items and toys. Sign-up to be the winning bidder at the extensive silent auction! Fire Island Pines July 4: This 40-plus year tradition continues, with boats in the Pines Marina competing for top prizes for the best decorated boat! Prizes are donated by local Pines businesses and judged by a panel of impartial judges. In true Pines fashion, boaters come up with not only elaborate decorations for their boat, but also design costumes and accessories to match them. With the marina packed with spectators, the Boat Decoration Contest starts at noon and ends at 2 p.m. just before the invading drag queens and their entourage arrive. The parade through the Pines Harbor will ![]() Ocean Bay Park July 4: Ocean Bay Park’s volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual Fourth of July barbeque from noon to 5 p.m. There will be hot dog, hamburgers, corn on the cob, watermelon, raw clams on the half shell as well as beer and soda for sale. Firefighters will also have a raffle for prizes as well as a 50-50 money raffle. Prior to noon, the volunteers will ride throughout Ocean Bay Park on the fire trucks announcing the event. Ocean Beach July 4: Break out the sparklers for O.B.’s famous Fourth of July celebration and children’s parade at 11 a.m. Rita Silver will be photographing the event and photos can be bought at the Ocean Beach Historical Society for a $5 donation. The Fire Department Cookout will be held at the Ball Field at 1 p.m. with Kid’s Races to follow at 3 p.m. Seaview July 4: The Seaview Community Fund will present a free concert from 6 - 8 p.m. Featured this Fourth of July will be Avram Pengas and his five piece klezmer band. Bring your own chair, refreshments and wear shoes because it’s taking place in Ziggy’s Back Lot on Gale Walk. Kismet July 5: The Fourth of July parade will be on Sunday and will include marching bands and kids in costume on floats before the fire department’s BBQ. The event is open to all and promises to have cheap eats and drinks.
