4:45 p.m. Officers extinguished a bag of popcorn that caught fire on a stovetop in an East Walk home in Fire Island Summer Club.

July 23

1:24 p.m. Fire Island Pines Fire Department firefighters saturated a "hot spot" under the deck of a Picketty Ruff Walk home in Fire Island Pines after a resident reported smelling smoke.

4:30 p.m. A Corneille Estates man reported a deer, possibly sick, sitting on the beach staring at the ocean. Officers found the deer "walking through the dunes and doing all the things deer normally do on Fire Island."
