June 23

9:41 a.m. A 69-year-old Florida man was found dead in a Teal Walk home in Fire Island Pines.

June 24

6:42 p.m. Officers and Fair Harbor Fire Department firefighters responded to a stove fire on Fifth Walk in Fair Harbor.

 

June 25

5:30 p.m. The Kismet Fire Chief reported people drinking in public and causing a disturbance at the marina. Subjects agreed to "tone it down" upon police arrival.

6:40 p.m. A boater from Lindenhurst reported that a Fire Island Ferries boat created excess wake, causing $200 worth of damage to his 26-foot vessel.

8:02p.m. A Davis Park woman reported from the Casino café that her two children broke curfew. Children returned home safe prior to police arrival.

June 26

8:37 p.m. An Atlantique man reported that youths were attempting to set a pile of brush on fire. Police and firefighters responded but found nothing amiss.

June 28

7:30 a.m. A dead dolphin washed ashore on Atlantique Beach. Riverhead Foundation for Marine Research and Preservation were notified.

June 30

10:50 a.m. Officers assisted Suffolk County health department agents conducting underage cigarette stings at retailers between Kismet and Ocean Bay Park.

July 1

11 p.m. Officers responded to a power outage on Neptune Walk in Fire Island Pines. The Long Island Power Authority later restored power.

July 2

7 a.m. A Fire Island Summer Club resident reported a naked man sleeping on West Walk. Suspect gone prior to police arrival.

July 3

4:10 p.m. A 15-year-old Smithtown boy was airlifted to Stony Brook University Medical Center for treatment of a possible drug overdose on Surfview Walk in Seaview. Drug paraphernalia seized at the scene as a part of a continuing investigation.

6:49 p.m. Saltaire Fire Department firefighters extinguished a dryer fire on Surf Walk.

7:33 p.m. A 23-year-old Connecticut woman was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore after being found intoxicated and unresponsive on the Cherry Grove dock.

July 4

2:40 a.m. A 23-year-old Fire Island Pines man was taken from a Picketty Ruff Walk home to Southside Hospital for treatment of a possible drug overdose.

10:46 a.m. A Lonelyville man reported that his boat, "Light Blue," went adrift. Boater recovered the boat on his own an hour later.

3:27 p.m. An anonymous 911 caller reported that a Fire Island Water Taxi captain was driving recklessly in the fog at Cherry Grove. Officers advised the captain to use caution.

July 5

1:20 p.m. A Seaview resident reported that someone dumped his garbage cans on the street in front of his Bayview Walk home.

1:20 p.m. A Seaview Association board member reported someone left human feces on a playground slide following a similar incident two weeks prior.

6:30 p.m. A 27-year-old Long Beach woman was taken to Southside Hospital from Clipper Walk in Corneille Estates after reporting that she drank too much alcohol the night before, was dehydrated, vomiting and was unable to eat or drink.

10:25 p.m. A Massachusetts man told police he started a fire on the beach in Atlantique because he intended to camp out there. Ocean Beach Fire Department firefighters extinguished the flames. Camper issued a summons.

July 8

8:10 p.m. Ocean Beach Fire Department firefighters extinguished a transformer fire on Fairway Walk in Seaview. LIPA notified.

11:35 p.m. Fair Harbor Fire Department firefighters responded to an electrical fire on Robins Walk in Lonelyville.

July 10

8:44 p.m. A Kismet man reported that a man named Mike called asking for his daughter, Gigi, and said: "I met her today, I'd like her to come over to my house, I could just eat her up."

July 11

9:33 a.m. A Fire Island Pines man reported that a duck and its baby have been swimming in the pool behind his Ocean Walk home for a few days. Complainant referred to a wildlife rescue agency.

July 17

7:26 p.m. A highly intoxicated New York City man was taken from Robbins Rest for medical treatment on the mainland.

10:20 p.m. A Fire Island Pines resident reported an electrical fire at their Shore Walk home. Flames extinguished prior to police and firefighter arrival.

In addition to these incidents, officers responded to one 911 hang-up, two stolen bicycles, three truck drivers stuck in the sand, three loose dogs, three false alarms and eight reports of illegal fireworks. Reported lost were one set of barbecue tongs, an overnight bag, a necklace, cell phone, a wallet, a camera and a backpack. Reported found were a bicycle and a purse. Officers also responded to 78 noise complaints and aided 68 sick or injured people.
